The Biju Patnaik Airport ( IATA code: BBI , ICAO code: VEBS ) is about three kilometers south of the center of Bhubaneswar in the state of Odisha , India and is named after the former Chief Minister of Orissa (Odisha) Biju Patnaik named. The airport is the only one in the region and is mainly used for domestic Indian flights. After the completion of the new terminal in 2013, it was named the best airport in India.

The airport is connected to the city center and the train station by the DTS City Bus Line 207. The station ( Railway Station ) from Bhubaneswar is located about three kilometers northeast of the airport. Various taxi companies offer a shuttle service.

Trivia
The IATA code BBI was initially planned for Berlin Brandenburg Airport - it was only when it became apparent that this had already been assigned to Bhubaneswar that BER was selected instead . For this reason, the new abbreviation was used for advertising from 2011 onwards.
