The Boa Vista airport ( IATA code : BVC , ICAO code : GVBA , Portuguese Aeroporto da Boavista , or Aeroporto Internacional Aristides Pereira ) is the third international airport of Cape Verde and the only one on the island of Boa Vista . It was known as "Rabil Airport" and was named in November 2011 after the first President of Cape Verde, Aristides Pereira .
The next town, Rabil, is one kilometer to the east and the island's capital, Sal Rei, is about 5 kilometers away. The desert island, known as the “pearl” of Cape Verde, has been a tourist destination since the 1990s. Well-known European investors have built luxurious holiday apartments and hotels in the Moorish style . The most beautiful and longest beaches in the country are here. In order to promote this development, the government of the archipelago, in cooperation with IATA , which provided technical support for the planning and organization, had the airport built and opened in October 2007.
The airport is currently served several times a week by the following airlines, some seasonally: TACV , TUI Airlines Nederland , Condor , Jetairfly , Halcyonair , Neos , SATA International , White Airways , Thomson Airways , TUIfly , TUIfly Nordic , Transavia France . Boa Vista Rabil flies directly to a total of ten airports.
