The airport Hat Yai ( Thai : ท่าอากาศยาน นานาชาติ หาดใหญ่ , Eng .: Hat Yai International Airport , IATA code : HDY) is an international airport in Hat Yai . Hat Yai is located in the Songkhla Province and southern region of Thailand . It is also a hub for Thai Airways .

General
The airport is located approximately nine kilometers southwest of Hat Yai city center at an altitude of 27 meters. The airport's operating hours are from 6 a.m. to midnight. It can handle 30 flights per hour.
The airport has one runway and seven taxiways. There are seven parking spaces available for the aircraft, two of which have contact gates. The total area of the airport is 56,461 m².
Noranit Pholakanond is in charge of the airport.
In 2015, Hat Yai was used by 3.64 million passengers, making it the third busiest airport in the southern region after Phuket and Krabi and the sixth most important airport in Thailand.
In scheduled traffic there are mainly domestic flights as well as connections with Malaysia and Singapore. Charter flights to Mecca also play an important role during the annual Hajj Islamic pilgrimage .

Hat Yai Airport has a passenger terminal on two levels (Terminal 1) with a total area of 7257 m². The terminal is divided into a departure area (905 m²), an arrival area (1249 m²), a transit area (400 m²) and other public and non-public areas.
Air Transport Statistics 2011
In the fiscal year 2011, which ran from October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011, a positive balance could be drawn with regard to air traffic, passenger numbers and cargo handling. International flight movements increased from 749 (2010) to 1635 (2011), in domestic traffic from 10,367 (2010) to 12,043 (2011). The number of passengers rose from 89,596 (2010) to 204,152 (2011) in international air traffic and from 1,375,388 (2010) to 1,630,416 (2011) in domestic flights. The cargo throughput increased from 13,272 tons (2010) to 14,503 tons (2011). The airmail sector grew from 130 tons from 193 tons (2010) to 323 tons (2011). Air freight and air mail were only transported nationally.
Others
On April 3, 2005, a bomb exploded in the departure lounge, killing one passenger and injuring ten. Islamic separatists from Pattani professed to do this .
Armed forces
The 56th Squadron is an inactive squadron stationed at RTAFB Hat Yai without a squadron.
