The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (IGI) ( IATA code : HYD; ICAO code : VOHS) is an international airport southwest of the Indian city ​​of Hyderabad .

The airport, which opened on March 23, 2008, has a terminal and a runway. It replaced the old Hyderabad-Begumpet airport , which is centrally located in the district of the same name and is named after the former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi .

In May 2011 Lufthansa Cargo opened a hub for temperature-sensitive freight at Hyderabad Airport. It is to be expanded to become the most important hub for temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical shipments in South Asia. The drugs were to be transported to the USA via Frankfurt am Main.
