The Libreville airport LÉON M'BA ( IATA : LBV ; ICAO : FOOL ; . Fr Aéroport de Libreville ) is the largest and most important airport in Gabon . It is located near the capital Libreville and serves as the home base of Gabon Airlines .
Airlines and Destinations
In addition to numerous connections within Africa , including to Abidjan , Nairobi and Douala , there are also two connections to Europe with Air France to Paris and PrivatAir (on behalf of Lufthansa ) to Frankfurt am Main .
Incidents
- On 2 April 1977, one loaded with meat products was Tupolev Tu-134A of Aviogenex (YU-AJS) landing at the airport Libreville, noted as the pilots that the runway by a maneuverable with Boeing 707 was blocked. The air traffic controller on duty had not previously informed the pilots. When hastily initiating the go - around in the rain, the overtired captain tore the steering column, causing the machine to dangle, brushing against a 60 meter high baobab tree and falling. All eight people on board were killed (see also Aviogenex's flight accident near Libreville ) .
