The Moi International Airport is the airport of the city of Mombasa and the second most important airport in Kenya after Jomo Kenyatta International Airport .

history

The airport was named after the former Kenyan President Daniel Arap Moi . Originally it was called Port Reitz Airport and was built by the British colonial government during World War II . In 1978 it was expanded and modernized and has been an international airport ever since.

Basic data

The airport is operated by the Kenya Airports Authority . It has two runways (03/21 with 3350 m length and 15/33 with 1363 m length). Runway 21 is equipped with ILS . Runway 15/33 will only be opened for lighter aircraft in exceptional cases on request.

Airlines and Destinations

The airport has non-stop flights from German-speaking countries: Condor Flugdienst flies from Frankfurt am Main , Ethiopian Airlines from Addis Ababa and SeaPort Airlines from Nairobi WIL . There are also flights via Nairobi NBO with African Express Airways , Jambojet or Kenya Airways (as of November 2011).
