The Tabriz International Airport ( Persian فرودگاه بین المللی شهيد مدنى تبریز) is a commercial airport and military base of the Iranian Air Force in the city of Tabriz ( Persian تبريز Tabrīz , [ tæbˈriːz ]; Azerbaijani تبريز Təbriz ), Iran . The airport is of particular economic importance both for the city, which has around 1,460,000 inhabitants (as of 2012) and for the region of East Azerbaijan , in which 3,603,456 people live (2006 census).
