Infrastructure and use

The airfield, located on the plain of Lucca, has an asphalted, 910-meter-long runway (10/28) running in west-east direction, which runs parallel to the A11 autostrada passing immediately south of the airfield . In the southwest of the airfield there is a 4700 m² apron with four hangars. history

The airfield was set up as a civil airfield on November 29, 1932. In 1935 it was taken over by the Regia Aeronautica , which set up a flight school here and then expanded the airfield until 1938. Towards the end of the Second World War, the airfield was destroyed by withdrawing German units.

After the war, the Italian military set up a landing zone in the northern area of the airfield for paratroopers stationed in Pisa and Livorno , while the southern part was left to general aviation and in 1981 was completely transferred to the civil aviation administration. The company was initially taken over by a consortium , and from 1999 onwards by a GmbH , which later became today's operating company.
