The Voghera airport ( it .: Aeroporto di Voghera-Rivanazzano Terme ) is located in the northern Italian region of Lombardy , around five kilometers south of the city of Voghera , in the area of ​​the municipality of Rivanazzano Terme .

Infrastructure and use

The airfield, located at the foot of the Ligurian Apennines in the Po Valley, has a 1000 meter long, asphalt runway (16/34) running in north-south direction . To the west of the runway is an asphalt apron with a hangar and some other facilities. The airfield is primarily used for general aviation . It is operated by the local aero club, which also has a flight school here.

history

A first airfield was created in Voghera during the First World War. In 1926 a section of the Aeroclub of the Province of Pavia was established there . In 1951 the Aeroclub Voghera was founded, which established the Voghera-Rivanazzano airfield until 1956. At first he only had a 600 meter long grass runway. The first major expansion measures took place in the 1980s. In 1993 the slope and the apron were paved.
