The cross

The land consolidation cross is on the edge of the forest in Nörvenich , Düren district near the Neffelbach .

On the bishop's path that branches off from Oberbolheimer Straße and leads along the edge of the forest to Alt-Oberbolheim , there is an artistically designed cross . It was built in 1987 and consecrated by Pastor Matthias Sieger.

As part of the land consolidation carried out at that time , it was set up by the Office for Land Consolidation as a contribution to the preservation of cultural assets.

The cross and the body of Christ were designed by the French artist Jean Vincent de Crozals , who has lived in the village for many years . In close collaboration with Toni Keller, who comes from the family of forges that have been based in Nörvenich since around 1800 , it was forged on the anvil and welded and galvanized in the workshop.

The cross has been a blessing station several times during the Corpus Christi procession . Lately, the procession can no longer be carried out regularly.

For reasons of traffic safety, too, if she moves out at all, she has to take a different route. Since the constellation in 1987, there have only been one or two acts of blessing at this point.

With the erection of the cross, the centuries-old tradition of erecting such Christian memorials in the village and on the outskirts has been continued.
