The Flytoget Type 78 is a high-speed train that has been developed as CAF Oaris by the Spanish manufacturer Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) since 2010 . In 2010 a prototype was built for the Spanish Renfe .

Flytoget Type 78

On March 20, 2015, the Norwegian Flytoget AS ordered eight four-car trains of this type. The state railway authority Statens jernbanetilsyn (SJT) gave it the designation Type 78 .

The maximum speed of the trains of 250 km / h can only be driven if the increase in the line speed from 210 km / h today to 250 km / h has been approved by Jernbaneverket . With the new trains, the current frequency of ten minutes on the cloakroom from Oslo-Gardermoen Airport to Oslo via Oslo Sentralstasjon via the Drammenbane to Lysaker is to be extended.

technology

A train consists of two end cars with a length of 26.78 m each and two intermediate cars with a length of 24.78 m each.

One bogie per car is driven by two asynchronous motors with an output of 660  kW each. The multiple unit variant with four cars and eight engines has a total drive power of 5280 kW.

The trains will have the latest information technology and both WiFi and power outlets. The train has two wheelchair areas and a toilet for people with reduced mobility. There is also a ramp that enables these passengers to access the train.

Scheduling

The eight new trains should be used in early 2018 after the expansion of the airport in Gardermoen. However, the first multiple unit train was only tested in October 2018 on the Velim railway test ring in the Czech Republic .

On March 5, 2019, the first Flytoget train unit was presented to the public. All multiple units are scheduled to be deployed from winter 2020.
