Career
Antonio Fonso began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown with the ECD Iserlohn , for which he was active in the ice hockey Bundesliga from 1986 to 1988 . The defender then spent the 1989/90 season at Mannheim ERC . After two years with its league rivals BSC Preussen , he also played for two seasons from 1992 to 1994 for his ex-club ECD Sauerland, which had since been relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga . In the 1992/93 season he also made 14 appearances for the Bundesliga club EC Ratingen .
During the 1994/95 season , Fonso was used both for the Füchse Sachsen in the newly founded German Ice Hockey League and for the EHC Neuwied in the second-class 1st League North . He then received a contract with the Wedemark Wildcats , with whom he rose to the DEL in 1996. He himself then left the club. From 1998 to 2000, the German with an Italian passport for ESC Erfurt competed in the third German division.
With the exception of the 2004/05 season , in which Fonso played with the Revierlöwen Oberhausen after the previous year's promotion in the league , he ran until the end of his career in 2007 exclusively in the fourth-class regional league for the Herford EC , the ESC Hamm , Herner EG , Revierlöwen Oberhausen and the EHC Dortmund .
