The Forkolor Saxophone Quartet is a saxophone ensemble founded in 2013 that comes from the field of jazz , but also draws on elements of folklore .

Development and Repertoire

The quartet was initiated by Vladimir Karparov. The musicians of the Forkolor Saxophone Quartet , improvisers with very individual musical characters and at the same time good ensemble players , have composed a program together that contains elements from modern jazz, Eastern European folklore, pop and classical music. The ensemble was awarded the Studio Project Jazz Prize by the Berlin Senate for Culture. The four musicians recorded their first album in Berlin with guests from Bulgaria, with Kaval player Nedyalko Nedyalkov and Tupan player Stojan Jankulow .

Appearances and collaboration

Forkolor played at several jazz festivals at home and abroad such as the Belgian Gaume Jazz Festival , the Jazz v Burgas Festival in Bulgaria and Made in New York Jazz in the USA . The group traveled to Bulgaria at the invitation of the Goethe Institute .
