Fortid ( dt. "Past, past"; also simplifies Fortid written) is an Icelandic - Norwegian Pagan-Metal - band .

history

The project was founded in 2002 by multi-instrumentalist Einar "Eldur" Thorberg in Kópavogur , who had founded the black metal formation Thule (later Curse) in the mid-90s . In the following year, the debut album Völuspá Part I - Thor's Anger was released by No Colors Records , part 1 of a trilogy which conceptually deals with themes from the Eddic creation story Völuspá . Four years later, the second part appeared with The Arrival Of Fenris . In 2008 Thorberg moved to the Norwegian capital Oslo and formed Fortíð here as a music group. He was joined by guitarist Øystein Hansen and bassist Rikard Jonsson, who has also been active as a guitarist in the death metal formation Forcefed Horsheads since 2011 . Furthermore, drummer Daniel Theobald, who has been active with Den Saakaldte since 2012, was added . From 2009 to 2011 the group was supported by keyboardist Gaute Refsnes, who was already active with Windir and Vreid . In 2010 the trilogy came to an end with Fall Of The Ages , which was published by the Eppstein-based music label Schwarzdorn Production. Thorberg has also been active in the Midnattsvrede group since 2013. The fifth and still current album 9 , which contains 9 songs as part of its concept, was released in 2015. The most recent compilation was The Demo Sessions in 2016, which was previously unpublished material.
