Forty Shades is a melodic power metal band founded in 2007 , whose members come from Switzerland and Germany.
history
Forty Shades is a 6-piece atmospheric melodic power metal band and was founded in 2007 by Tobias Gut ( keyboard , piano ) and Manuela Kraller (formerly singer of Xandria ) under the name "Nagor Mar".
The formation initially began as a female-fronted symphonic metal band, which was based on bands such as Nightwish or Evanescence . After Manuela Kraller left the band in 2012, singer Tosse Basler (at the time guitarist with Crematory and former singer with Poison Asp ) was brought into the band and the name changed to Forty Shades.
With the first album Camera Silens the band was signed by the German label 7hard (7usMedia) and received many positive reviews from magazines such as Metal Hammer , Rock Hard , Legacy and others across Europe . a. record. The album received 9/10 points from Metal Hammer (Italy) and was touted as one of the best newcomer metal albums in 2015. The band already played as support for acts like Beyond the Black or Masterplan .
In spring 2016 the band signed the booking and management contract with the EAM agency. The band released their latest work on April 27, 2018 - "Blackstar Diamond".
Camera Silens

In terms of content, the lyrics deal with themes from the Aleister Crowley Tarot , Greek and Egyptian mythology ( Black Winged Sun , Seven Moons , Purple Flame , Pillars of Doom ). The tragedy of transience , loss and suicide ( In a Darker Shade of Gloom ), power ( Love Lane Princess ), the pain of separation and abandonment and finitude itself ( Bloodmoon , The End ) are themes on Camera Silens . Presented in the figure of Lord Charon , the ferryman in Greek mythology, who brings the dead across the Styx to the realm of the dead in Hades for a fee .
Probably the heaviest song on this album, Pillars of Doom , describes in the first part the fate of Prometheus , who is not allowed to die because he illegally brought fire to people and from then on has his liver, which is growing again and again, eaten by an eagle every day. In the second part mankind, seized by fire, shows itself in its immeasurable arrogance by wanting to play God . The personified God puts the barrel of a loaded weapon on his tongue, his finger on the trigger, symbolically as a show of power, with the intention of being able to blow away all of humanity at once. The last, third part shows the human god in the example of the Christian religion , how he ultimately has to answer to his specially created “ Last Judgment ”.
Blackstar Diamond
"Blackstar Diamond" is the second output of the German / Swiss metal formation Forty Shades. This is an atmospheric, progressive, power metal concept album. The album, consisting of ballads, mid- and up-tempo numbers, was produced by coal Kohlmannslehner (Crematory, Sieges Even, Powerwolf, Aborted).
The lyrics describe a tyrannized earth community, with slaves, a highly technical military and highly developed research around 5000 AD. A universe with many planetary communities and different forms of existence. Created by deities on the principle of dualism and a very special planet, the "Blackstar Diamond", in which the deities have to banish the ultimate dark and evil in order to be able to maintain the balance of forces in this universe.
