The Forum 3 is ( "Association for the promotion of youth development, adult and vocational education") a self-governing youth and cultural center at the Theodor-Heuss-Straße in the center of Stuttgart . It was founded in 1969 by the »Action Group for Threefolding « in a demolished house.

Since it was founded, Forum 3 has maintained an open relationship with a wide variety of people, political parties and goals and has thus become a center for civic protest movements and initiatives that want to shape social change. Forum 3 offers a wide range of cultural activities, from music, drama, dance, sport, visual arts and humanities. It organizes around 150 courses and seminars every year. Forum 3 organizes around 60 lectures, discussion forums and discussions on current topics in society, politics, religion, ethics and anthroposophy . Among other things, the annual youth training week with Orland Bishop and Nicanor Perlas or events with Vandana Shiva or Götz Werner on “ Unconditional Basic Income ”.

The Forum Café serves organic food in 100 places without music at changing art exhibitions.

Forum 3 is a member of the Stuttgart City Youth Council and the parity welfare association . Over 100,000 people visit Forum 3 every year.

Forum Theater

The Forum Theater is located in the house of Forum 3. Until 2008, the legal entity was Forum 3 eV Since then, the theater has been run independently as a gGmbH and is subsidized by the City of Stuttgart and the State of Baden-Württemberg .

structure

Forum 3 is an independent association . The building was leased to the association in 1980. After a renovation in 1981–1983, Forum 3 with two new wings has 1700 m² of usable space on five floors. In 1983, it received the Paul Bonatz Prize for its new building .

financing

Forum 3 has been supported by a permanent grant from the youth welfare office of the city of Stuttgart since 1971. The running operating costs per year such as house, energy and material costs, salaries, wages and fees and event costs have to be covered to about 60% by income, unpaid personal work and donations, the rest is covered by the municipal subsidy.
