Norwegian Championships

The Fosenhallen is an ice rink in Botngård, about 90 km from Trondheim located on the peninsula Fosen in the municipality of Ørland , Trøndelag , Norway .

Construction work began in 2006 and the hall was opened on September 14, 2007. It offers protection from wind and weather but can only keep an ambient temperature a few degrees higher than the outside of the hall. The ice rink's cooling system is connected to Botngård's district heating network. The waste heat is used, among other things, to heat the surrounding public buildings. Because of this and the lack of heating, the maintenance of the hall is very cheap.

The multi - purpose hall provides space for a 40 × 60 meter artificial turf soccer field next to the speed skating facility . There is also a 30 × 60 meter ice hockey rink and an indoor curling track , which can be reached via a bridge.

The first major national event was the 2008 Norwegian All-Around Championship from December 15 to 16, 2007. On the first day, 1500 spectators were already in the hall. Since then the hall has hosted various Norwegian championships. In 2009 the Masters World Championships, the Masters Allround Games , took place here. With 183 athletes from 14 countries, it was the largest event to date. The Junior World Cup made a stop in the 2011/12 season .
