The Foster Wheeler AG had an international Swiss Plant Corporation with US roots. The corporate headquarters of the Group was in Baar in Switzerland , operational headquarters was in Reading in the UK .

Foster Wheeler employed 13,311 (2012: 12,893) people and had sales of 3.306 billion US dollars in 2013 (2012: 3.391 billion US dollars). Shares of Foster Wheeler AG were at the NASDAQ listed .

On November 13, 2014, Foster Wheeler was taken over by the British AMEC for 3.13 billion US dollars , which was then renamed Amec Foster Wheeler . On January 19, 2015, Foster Wheeler was deleted from the commercial register and no longer exists as a company.

Field of activity

Foster Wheeler was divided into two main areas:

  1. Range Global E & C (Engineering & Construction) designed and built especially refineries for oil and gas and other petrochemical, chemical and process plants. The systems were usually delivered turnkey as a general contractor (" EPC ").
  2. Range Global Power designed and built especially furnaces , boilers , complete power plants and other energy systems.

The company was founded in 1927 as a merger of the Power Specialty Company , which was founded in 1884 as the Water Works Supply Company by the Foster family, and the Wheeler Condenser & Engineering Company , whose roots go back to 1891. Originally the operational headquarters were in New York City , but later moved to Clinton, New Jersey.

In 2008, Foster Wheeler had sales of $ 6.854 billion. At the end of 2008, the group decided to move its headquarters from the Bermuda Islands to Switzerland. The relocation to Zug was completed on February 9, 2009. This also involved the conversion of Foster Wheeler into a stock corporation under Swiss law .
