Fotokol is a border village in the district of Logone-et-Chari province Extrême-Nord in Cameroon .

geography

Fotokol is located directly on the border with Nigeria near Gamboru on the El Beid River . Lake Chad begins 15 kilometers north .

history

On February 5, 2015, the terrorist organization Boko Haram carried out a massacre in the village that killed at least 82 people. The reason was presumably an act of revenge, as the Chadian army had recently taken action against Boko Haram in the Nigerian neighboring town of Gamboru and killed around 200 extremists there.
