Frédéric Blanc

Frédéric Blanc (* 1967 in Bordeaux ) is a French composer , organist and improviser .

Life

Frederic Blanc was born in Bordeaux in 1967 . He first studied law for a year, then organ at the Conservatories of Toulouse and Bordeaux with André Fleury , Marie-Claire Alain , Pierre Cogen and, from 1991, with Marie-Madeleine Duruflé . He is regarded as Duruflé's last pupil, took over many of her manuscripts and now lives in her former apartment. He has won numerous competitions, including the Grand Prix de Chartres (1996) and the international organ competition Concours internationaux of the city of Paris (1997).

From 1987 to 1995 he worked as assistant organist at the organ of the Saint-Sernin basilica in Toulouse and from 1993 to 1999 as a lecturer for organ at the Conservatoire of Bordeaux-Mérignac. Since 1999, Blanc has been titular organist of the parish church of Notre-Dame d'Auteuil in Paris. In August 2003 he was a lecturer at the International Altenberg Organ Academy for Improvisation . He is also a member of the organ commission of the city of Paris and a member of the commission for non-listed organs in the music department of the French Ministry of Culture.

Frederic Blanc conducts master classes for organ z. B. at the Royal Academy of Music in London and increasingly also at US universities such as Valparaiso University (Indiana), Stanford University (California), Hope College (Holland, Michigan), Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois), Southern Methodist University (Dallas), the Curtis Institute of Music (Philadelphia), University of Michigan Ann Arbor and Arizona State University (Phoenix).
