Frédéric Falkenburger
Frédéric Falkenburger (born August 27, 1890 in Berlin , † May 11, 1965 in Mainz ) was an anthropologist and scientist.
Life
Falkenburger studied medicine and natural sciences at the University of Strasbourg and received his doctorate in both subjects in 1916. He took part in the First World War as a doctor. After the war he ran a practice in Berlin until 1929.
From 1929 to 1933 he worked as a doctor in the printing association. After the National Socialists came to power , he followed his family, who had already emigrated in 1932, to France. In 1936 and 1937 he worked temporarily in Moscow.
In 1937 Falkenburger began working at the Center National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in Paris , where he received his doctorate in 1938. He stayed with the CNRS until 1959. During his time at the CNRS a number of different anthropological works on craniology were produced. At the end of the Second World War he was Chef du Service de la Santé du Haut-Commissariat Français en Allemagne .
In 1946 Falkenburger was appointed associate professor, and in 1951 full professor of anthropology at the University of Mainz . There he was director of the Institute for Human Tribal History and Biotypology.
