Frédéric Frégevize , also Fraigevise or Frégevise (* 1770 in Geneva ; † October 9, 1849 ibid) was a Swiss portrait , history , landscape , porcelain and miniature painter .

Life

In Geneva, Frégevize dealt with enamel painting . From 1804 he studied in Berlin at the Academy of Arts . On July 1, 1809, Frégevize was employed as a porcelain painter at the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (KPM) . In addition to his work as a porcelain painter, he also created oil paintings and participated with his works in the Berlin Academy exhibitions . In 1820 Frégevize was appointed professor of the Prussian Academy of the Arts (Berlin) in the section for the fine arts. In 1823 he became an honorary member of the Société des Arts in Geneva. In 1829 he went back to Geneva and in 1839 to Dessau .

“In 1810, at the academy exhibition, KPM presented for the first time the work of a new, equally capable and versatile painter who was able to confidently master fantasy landscapes, figurative objects or brochures. The trained miniature painter Frédéric Frégevize (1770–1849), who came from Geneva and came to the factory on July 1, 1809, was appointed professor and full member of the academy in 1820. His first topographical view there was 'An area on Lake Geneva'. Also as a freelance oil painter, as he later mainly worked, Frégevize mainly created views of his homeland as well as real landscapes from Silesia and the Giant Mountains. His porcelains are occasionally signed. "

Works

In the 1903 catalog of the Nationalgalerie Berlin, Frégevize is listed with two works. On porcelain from the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin you will find Swiss landscape views, which can clearly be attributed to Frégevize in terms of their motif.
