Frédéric Herpoel (born August 16, 1974 in Brussels ) is a former Belgian football goalkeeper and later football coach .

Career

society

At the age of 7 he started playing for SC Havré and then moved to RSC Anderlecht in 1988 , where he played in the youth team. Between 1993 (his arrival in the senior team) and 1997 Herpoel played just four games in the first division for the Brussels team. He was then committed by KAA Gent , where he was able to prevail as a regular goalkeeper. He stayed in Ghent for ten years. However, it was never enough for a real title. His only success was winning the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2006. In the 2003/04 season he was named the best goalkeeper in Belgium. After the end of the 2006/07 season, Herpoel did not get a new contract with Gent. After some time without a club, he joined the RAEC Mons in November 2007 . In his first season there, relegation was only just averted in 16th place. In 2009 he ended his active career and briefly coached his first training club, FC Havré , in 2010 .

National team

Herpoel made his debut on August 3, 2005 and has played seven times for the Belgian national football team . However, he was already in the squad of the Belgians at the European Football Championship 2000 and the Football World Cup 2002 .
