Frédéric Rouge (born April 27, 1867 in Aigle , † February 13, 1950 in Ollon ) was a Swiss painter .

Life

Frédéric Rouge grew up in Aigle. At the age of 15 he began an apprenticeship with the animal and genre painter Walter Vigier in Solothurn, who was known at the time . After studying at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Basel , the Académie Julian in Paris and a stay in Florence , he returned to Aigle. In 1903 he bought the Les Cèdres estate in Ollon, which he lived in until his death in 1950.

Frédéric Rouge created numerous oil paintings in the style of Albert Anker (1831–1910), Frank Buchser (1828–1890) and Karl Stauffer-Bern (1858–1891). He also designed two glass pictures for the church of Vionnaz in 1926 , and in 1939 he created the mural “The Sower” in the reformed church of Ollon. He also designed numerous posters and painted a lizard for a wine label for the Henri Badoux winery in Aigle, which the company still uses today as a stylized logo.
