François-Pierre Descamps

François-Pierre Descamps (* 1962 in Lille ) is a French conductor , choir director and composer .

Career

Descamps completed his studies at the Conservatoire Paris , but then switched to the Vienna University of Music in 1989 . He earned a diploma (Magister) as a cellist and in choir and orchestra conducting. He has worked as a conductor in France, Belgium, Spain, the Czech Republic, Romania and Austria. From 1996 to 1997 he was Kapellmeister with the Vienna Boys' Choir .

Descamps has taught at the Mozarteum University of Music in both Salzburg and Innsbruck ; he also works in the siren opera theater and for the Neue Oper Wien . As a composer he wrote a number of works for orchestra, cantatas for choir a cappella, songs, but also operas. For the siren opera theater, he wrote the operas The Forgotten Alchemist (2009), Zumurrud (2011) and Jeanne and Gilles (2018).
