France Rotar (born March 25, 1933 in Ljubljana , Slovenia , † April 22, 2001 ) was a Slovenian sculptor .

Career

Rotar studied sculpture at the Ljubljana Art Academy under Professor Zdenko Kalin and passed the final exam in 1959. He worked as a freelance artist and lived in Verona , Italy between 1981 and 1992 . He then took on an extraordinary professorship at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (ALU) in Ljubljana in 1992 , which was converted into a full professorship in 1997. Rotar created sculptures in stone and bronze .

style

Rotar's preferred shape was the ball, often designed as a 'ripping ball'.
