Frances Turner

Frances Turner (born April 6, 1992 in Christchurch ) is a New Zealand helmswoman in rowing .

Athletic career

Turner steered the New Zealand eighth to the silver medal behind the US eighth at the 2009 Junior World Championships . The following year she also received the silver medal behind the US eight at the U23 World Championships with the eighth. At the 2010 World Championships in the adult class, Turner took eighth place. In 2011, as in the previous year, Turner won silver at the U23 World Championships, this time behind the Canadian eighth.

In 2015, the 1.59 m tall Frances Turner made her debut with the New Zealand eighth in the Rowing World Cup . After a fifth place at the World Cup regatta in Varese, the New Zealanders took second place in Lucerne behind the Canadian boat. At the 2015 World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette , the US eight won, the New Zealanders received the silver medal ahead of the Canadians. The New Zealand eighth with Kayla Pratt , Emma Dyke , Ruby Tew , Kelsey Bevan , Grace Prendergast , Kerri Gowler , Genevieve Behrent , Rebecca Scown and Frances Turner qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics. In the 2016 World Cup, the New Zealand eighth finished third in Lucerne behind the US eight and the British. At the last World Cup regatta in Poznan in 2016, only three boats started, the New Zealanders won ahead of the British and Dutch women. At the 2016 Olympics , the New Zealand eighth finished fourth.
