from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Francesco Longo (* 1931 in Poggiardo ; † March 26, 1995 in Rome ) was an Italian screenwriter and film director .

Life

Longo tried his hand at various professions and in 1961 got the opportunity to write the screenplay for Renato Polselli's Ultimatum alla vita . Through his acquaintance with the documentary filmmaker Giovanni Vento , further engagements followed; initially as assistant director for inexpensive genre films by Guido Malatesta and Roberto Mauri . From 1967 to 1970 Longo worked with Tinto Brass and wrote the scripts for the films of the period. Then he was employed again as an assistant, now with more artistically demanding works by Florestano Vancini and others.

In 1979, Longo shot the first of three films as a director, the last of which was best remembered with the subject of “poverty prostitution of minors in the Italian south”; they were discussed favorably by the critics, but not successful with the paying audience.
