Francesco Madonia

Francesco Ciccio Madonia (born March 31, 1924 in Palermo , † March 13, 2007 in Naples ) was an Italian mafioso .

Life

Madonia was the boss of the San Lorenzo-Pallavicino clan in the Palermo area and the Resuttana family. In 1978 he became a member of the Mafia Commission , the assembly of the most important leaders of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra , which he supported during the Second Great Mafia War from 1981 to 1983 . He was sentenced to life imprisonment during the Maxi Trial . Ciccio Madonia was involved in the murder of Piersanti Mattarella , Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa , Libero Grassi and the mafia hunters Paolo Borsellino and Giovanni Falcone , among others . Despite his imprisonment in 1987, Madonia continued to lead his clan; he died in 2007 in a prison hospital in Palermo. After his death, his children Antonino, Giuseppe and Salvatore continued to run the Madonia clan.
