Francesco Vinea (born August 10, 1845 in Forlì , † October 22, 1902 in Florence ) was an Italian painter.

Life

Vinea trained as a genre painter at the academy in Florence and lived there as a professor . He mostly painted genre pictures with figures in costumes from the 17th and 18th centuries in the style of Fortuny , which are distinguished just as much by their shiny, brightly colored, gem-like, luminous coloring as by the liveliness of the representation, sharpness of the characteristics and bold humor. Occasionally he also painted individual figures from modern folk life with witty, dim coloring.
