Francis Jacob Harper
Francis Jacob Harper (born March 5, 1800 in Frankford , Pennsylvania , † March 18, 1837 ibid) was an American politician . In 1837 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Francis Harper was born in 1800 in the then independent city of Frankford, which is now part of Philadelphia . He joined the Democratic Party and became a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1832 . Between 1834 and 1835 he was a member of the State Senate .
In the congressional election of 1836 , Harper was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Michael Woolston Ash on March 4, 1837 . But he died just two weeks later, on March 18 of the same year, long before the constituent session of the newly elected Congress.
