Francisco David Xavier Carlos (born September 20, 1967 in Hatulia , Portuguese Timor ) is an East Timorese politician.

Career

Carlos was the General Secretary of the União Democrática Timorense (UDT) when he ran for the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2012 without a chance at number 43 on the UDT list. In the 2017 elections , he was in second place, but the party failed at the 4 percent hurdle. In the 2018 elections , Carlos was number 5 on the list of the coalition of the Frenti Dezenvolvimentu Demokratiku (FDD), to which the UDT also belonged. The alliance was only able to send three members to the national parliament of East Timor .

When the UDT party leader Gilman Exposto dos Santos died in 2019, Carlos took over his seat in parliament and office in the party. On December 2, 2019, Carlos took part in a parliamentary session for the first time. He is a member of the Commission on Constitutional Affairs and Justice (Commission A) and the Commission on Infrastructure (Commission E).

Awards

As a survivor of the Santa Cruz massacre in 1991, Carlos is the holder of the Ordem Lorico Asuwain .
