Francisco Jara
Francisco Jara Garibay (born February 3, 1941 in Guadalajara , Jalisco State ) is a retired Mexican soccer player who was under contract with Chivas Guadalajara between 1960 and 1971 . He was part of the legendary team that was seven times Mexican champion in the nine years between 1957 and 1965 and was nicknamed "Campeonísimo".
career
Jara has been under contract with his hometown club Chivas Guadalajara throughout his professional career . His first use for Chivas he played in a league game of the 1960/61 season on October 16, 1960 against city rivals Club Deportivo Oro , which was won 2-1. Just a week later in his second use on October 23, 1960 in an away game at Club Necaxa , which ended 2-2, he scored his first goal in the top Mexican division .
Jara made his international debut on March 28, 1963 against Jamaica (8-0) and two days later he also played against Costa Rica (0-0). After that, however, it would take more than three years before he was allowed to play for Mexico again. Immediately before the 1966 World Cup , Jara played four more international matches. He was also part of the Mexican national team , who traveled to England for the World Cup and was eliminated after the preliminary round, but was not used there.
Francisco Jara played a total of nine internationals between 1963 and 1968, six of them in full. Although he was often used as a left winger, he didn't hit a single goal in the dress of the national team.
After finishing his professional career at the age of 30, he followed a family tradition and ran a bakery called "El Campeonísimo".
