Francisco Javier Torres (born May 12, 1983 in León , Guanajuato ) is a Mexican football player who mainly acts in defensive midfield and occasionally on the position of defender .

Life

Torres began his professional career in 2002 at Club América , for which he played his first competitive game on his 19th birthday when he was substituted on in the quarter-final second leg of the Mexican soccer championship at CF La Piedad (3-1) a few minutes before the end of the game. With America, he won the title of the Torneo Verano 2002 and the Clausura 2005 . He also won the Mexican Supercup in 2005 and the CONCACAF Champions' Cup in 2006 .

After the last triumph he moved to Santos Laguna and won another championship title in the Clausura in 2008 .

Torres has been on loan since the beginning of 2011. In the first half of the year he played for the Jaguares de Chiapas and since summer 2011 for Atlas Guadalajara .

National team

The highlight of his early years was his participation in the 2003 Junior World Cup , in which Mendoza played all three games of the Mexican U-20 national team against Ivory Coast (1: 2), Saudi Arabia (1: 1) and Ireland (0: 2 ) denied.

To his (so far) only A international appearance for the Mexican national team , Torres came in a friendly match against Ecuador on November 12, 2008, which was won 2-1.
