Francisco de Aquino Correia SDB (born April 2, 1885 in Cuiabá , † March 22, 1956 in São Paulo ) was a Brazilian religious , Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cuiabá and Governor of Mato Grosso .

Life

After joining the order of the Salesians of Don Bosco , he was ordained a priest on January 17, 1909 . Five years later, on April 2, 1914, his 29th birthday, Pope Pius X appointed him titular bishop of Prusias ad Hypium and auxiliary bishop in Cuiabá. He was ordained episcopal by the Archbishop of Cuiabá, Carlos Luiz d'Amour , on January 1, 1915. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Corumbá , Cyrillo de Paula Freitas , and the prelate of Registro do Araguaia , Antônio Malan SDB.

From January 22, 1918 to January 21, 1922 Aquino Correia was governor of the state of Mato Grosso.

On August 26, 1921, the 36-year-old was born by Pope Benedict XV. appointed Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cuiabá. In office from April 16, 1922, he shaped the diocese for almost 42 years.

Correia is known for his literary work and was accepted as the first inhabitant of Mato Grosso in the Academia Brasileira de Letras .
