Franciszka Arnsztajnowa
Franciszka Arnsztajnowa , née Meyerson, (born February 19, 1865 in Lublin , † August 1942 in Warsaw ) was a Polish poet , playwright and translator of Jewish origin. She was the sister of the philosopher Émile Meyerson .
Life
Arnsztajnowa graduated from the girls' high school in Lublin and then attended educational courses in Germany . She traveled to France , Italy and Switzerland . In 1885 she married the doctor Marek Arnsztajn . She lived with her husband in Lublin, where they became involved in the local culture. In 1906 they founded the Lublin Society for the Dissemination of Education "Światło" ( Light ).
As a poet she made her debut in 1889 with the cycle Wrażenia zimowe , which was published in the magazine Życie . In the following years she published her poems in the Ateneum, Kalendarz Lubelski, Sfinks, Ziemia Lubelska and Życie . In 1914 she joined the Polska Organizacja Wojskowa . In the 1920s she worked at Związek Pracy Obywatelskiej Kobiet. In addition, she edited the Dodatek Literacki and Dodatek dla Dzieci of the magazine Ziemia Lubelska in 1926 . Together with Józef Czechowicz , she co-founded the Lublin Association of Writers in 1932 , which she took over as chairman. In 1934 she moved to Warsaw , where she worked as an archivist at the Józef Piłsudski Institute.
During the German occupation of Poland she continued to live in Warsaw and died in August 1942 in the Warsaw Ghetto .
