Franck Ange Khalfoun (born March 9, 1968 in Paris , Île-de-France ) is a French - Algerian film director and actor .

Life

Khalfoun was born in Paris to an Algerian and a Frenchwoman. In his hometown he began a career in show business as a dancer at a Parisian theater.

Film career

Khalfoun made his film debut in 1992 when he worked as an assistant director on Alexandre Arcady's crime thriller The Law of the Mafia and played a minor role in the film. Another supporting role followed in 1994 in the French Canal + television production The Eagle and the Horse .

Khalfoun got his first leading role in 2003 in Olias Barco's sports drama Snowboarder as X. In the same year, the role of Jimmy in the French thriller High Tension . The director of the film is Alexandre Aja , son of Alexandre Arcady. While filming, Khalfoun became friends with Aja and his producer Grégory Levasseur . They offered Khalfoun to direct the thriller P2 - Schreie im Parkhaus (2006), and he also wrote the script together with Levasseur.

In 2007, Khalfoun and Aja moved from France to Los Angeles in the United States , where Khalfoun founded the independent theater Godot's Hideaway .

Two years later, Khalfoun left Los Angeles and moved to New York City , where he started a commercial and music video production company. With his production company, he created various album covers as a photographer, including for Busta Rhymes and Erick Sermon .

In late 2009, Khalfoun returned to the director's chair for the second time and directed the crime thriller Wrong Turn at Tahoe with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Harvey Keitel .

After Alexandre Aja received an offer from Dimension Films to direct the remake of Joe Dante's Piranhas , he cast Khalfoun to play Deputy Green.

On August 17, 2011, Khalfoun was hired by Warner Bros. to direct the horror film Alexandre Ajas Maniac . In 2017, the horror film he directed Amityville: The Awakening was released.
