action

On Christmas Eve , Angela Bridges leaves her office in New York City late in the evening and wants to go to a Christmas party with her relatives. Your car won't start in the underground car park . She asks the security guard Thomas, who cannot help her. Then she decides to call a taxi. When the taxi arrives, however, Angela notices that the main entrance is closed. She goes back to parking deck P2. Once there, the gate is already closed and nobody responds to your call for help at the counter. Suddenly the light goes out. While she wants to run back fully loaded with the weak cell phone light, she is unsuspectingly attacked from behind by the security guard Thomas and drugged with chloroform .

A little later Angela wakes up in Thomas' office. She is now wearing a white dress and is sitting in front of a festive table to which she is tied with a chain. Thomas is obsessed with the businesswoman and tries to win her as a friend. He has been watching her for some time and knows the names of her relatives. In order to be undisturbed, Thomas forces Angela to call the family that is waiting for her and pretend to be sick. After the call, Angela's first attempt to escape fails.

Thomas takes her to the last floor P4. Her colleague Jim Harper is tied to an office chair there. Thomas wants to punish him for sexually molesting Angela while she was drunk. She still tries to portray the incident as a misunderstanding, which doesn't stop the psychopath from first brutally beating Jim Harper with a flashlight and then pushing the car against the wall several times, so that he dies. Angela uses the situation to escape from the car.

She fetches her cell phone and some key cards from Thomas' office, even though the Rottweiler reacts aggressively. After dialing 911, she hides in an elevator. She tries to call for help over the intercom, but the voice soon turns out to be Thomas. He lets water run into the cabin with a fire hose and throws the corpse of his colleague Karl Donson into it from above. The water rises so high that Angela has to open the door.

She hides again while Thomas plays Elvis Presley's music over the speakers . While he's distracted, Angela destroys some surveillance cameras with an ax. When she comes into the office, Thomas has disappeared. Instead, she sees a video of the psychopath sexually abusing her while she was drugged. After smashing the TV, she notices an arriving police car. But at that moment Thomas returns and puts them out of action with a taser . He distracts the police officers, who find neither Angela nor the two bodies. Meanwhile, Angela lies in a trunk without being able to make herself noticeable. When she is able to free herself with an iron bar, the police are just leaving the underground car park and instead Thomas is standing in front of her.

She flees again and Thomas chases his dog on her. Angela manages to kill the Rottweiler in a car. Then she speeds through the underground car park with her car. Thomas follows her in another car. After a game of cowards and a rollover, he believes Angela is badly injured. But she has deceived him and stabs him in the eye before handcuffing him to the car door. After a conversation in which Thomas insults Angela seriously, she pulls out his taser. With this she lights the leaking gasoline that sets Thomas and the rental car on fire. While the psychopath dies, Angela walks away from the parking deck to exit the underground car park. When she walks half-naked and barefoot injured, the alarmed fire brigade drives down the street to the parking garage. She, on the other hand, walks down the street alone in the snow.

production

The film was shot in Toronto within two months . Since the film was produced in a real parking garage, filming could only take place there at night. Fourteen white dresses and three different Rottweilers were used.

criticism

The reviewer from cinema.de comes to a positive conclusion, despite the well-known scenario and the violence classified as borderline: “But the tension in the cat-and-mouse game remains constantly high and the victim can, unlike in the genre usual, once behave totally logically. "The critic of filmtipps.at sees a" [s] clean and exciting intimate thriller play with the right amount of unease. "The lexicon of international films , on the other hand, rates the film negatively; the thriller was “designed as a psychologically insufficiently mature threat scenario. Neither the story-poor book nor the actors are convincing. "
