Franco Bernard (born July 19, 1957 in Meran , South Tyrol ) is an Italian school director, teacher, actor and former party chairman ( state spokesman ) of the South Tyrolean Greens .

Life

education and profession

Bernard completed a degree in modern languages ​​and literatures at the University of Padua , which he completed in 1982 with a thesis on the South Tyrolean writer Joseph Zoderer . From 1985 he worked as a teacher at the “Franz Kafka” business school in Merano. From 2015 to 2019 he headed the Algund school district .

Career

In 1990 Franco Bernard was elected to the list of the Greens in the Merano municipal council, to which he belonged for three terms, from 1998 as parliamentary group leader of his party. In 2005, with the support of the Greens and the Rifondazione Comunista, he ran for the office of mayor of his hometown Merano and only narrowly missed the runoff for the best two. Between February 2006 and January 2009 Franco Bernard held the office of spokesman for the South Tyrolean Greens. In the spring of 2010, Bernard resigned all party offices as part of his application as a child and youth lawyer in South Tyrol .

As one of the first conscientious objectors to conscientious objection in South Tyrol, Bernard did his community service at the Association for Children's Playgrounds and Recreation (VKE) in Bolzano from late 1980 to early 1982 . As a result, he took over the Merano section of the VKE, which he continues to lead on an honorary basis.

Bernard is a permanent member of the ensembles of the “Theater in der Klemme”, until 2014 directed by Franco Marini , and of the “Zeit-Theater” in Merano. He appeared repeatedly in productions of the local radio and television, in cabaret, operettas (e.g. Im Weißen Rößl ), musicals and productions of spoken theater with a focus on Johann Nestroy and Ödön von Horváth , which made him a well-known person of the South Tyrolean cultural scene. and made theatrical life. In 1996 he played alongside Mario Adorf and Marianne Sägebrecht in the film production Der kleine Lord .

Franco Bernard has been a member of the editorial team of cactus , the alternative city magazine of Merano for many years . He also published guest posts on salto.bz . Since his retirement in September 2019, Bernard has been a tour guide and hiking guide.
