Frangiskos papamanolis
Frangiskos Papamanolis OFMCap ( Greek Φραγκίσκος Παπαμανώλης Frangískos Papamanólis ; born December 5, 1936 in Ano Syros ) is a Greek Roman Catholic clergyman and emeritus bishop of Syros and Santorini and former apostolic administrator of Crete . He has been chairman of the Roman Catholic Greek Bishops' Conference since May 2004 .
Life
Frangiskos Papamanolis entered the order of the Capuchins on August 7, 1954 and was ordained a priest on April 29, 1962 .
Pope Paul VI appointed him on June 27, 1974 Bishop of Syros and Milos and Bishop of Santorini and Apostolic Administrator of Crete. The old bishop of Syros Georges Xenopulos S.J. donated him episcopal ordination on October 20 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Nikolaos Foskolos , Archbishop of Athens , and Ioannis Perris , Archbishop of Naxos, Andros, Tinos and Mykonos .
On May 13, 2014, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation. Even after his retirement, Papamanolis continues to serve as chairman of the Roman Catholic Greek Bishops' Conference.
On February 5, 2015, Papamanolis led the delegation of the Roman Catholic Bishops of Greece on their ad limina visit to Pope Francis. As a representative of the Greek Bishops' Conference, he took part in the Extraordinary General Assemblies of the Synod of Bishops on questions of marriage and the family in October 2014 and October 2015 in Rome.
