Nikolaos Foskolos

Nikolaos Foskolos ( Greek Νικόλαος Φώσκολος Nikólaos Fóskolos ; born December 11, 1936 in Komi, Tinos , Greece ) is Archbishop Emeritus of the Roman Catholic Archbishopric of Athens .

Life

Nikolaos Foskolos was ordained a priest on October 1, 1962 .

On June 25, 1973, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Athens . He was ordained bishop by the Archbishop of Naxos, Andros, Tinos and Mykonos , Ioánnis Perrís , on August 12, 1973; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Corfu, Zakynthos and Kefalonia , Antonios Varthalitis , and the Bishop of Syros Georgios Xenopoulos .

Nikolaos Foskolos acted as co-consecrator at the episcopal ordinations of Frangiskos Papamanolis , Nikolaos Printesis and Ioannis Spiteris .

Since 1992 Foskolos has been both Apostolic Administrator for the Archdiocese of Rhodes and President of the Bishops' Conference of the Catholic Church in Greece .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on August 12, 2014.
