Frank-Michael Kuhlemann

Frank-Michael Kuhlemann (born September 11, 1955 in Minden ) is a German historian and history teacher .

Life

Kuhlemann completed an apprenticeship in industry. After working as an employee in the private sector, he studied history and Protestant theology at Bielefeld University and the Bethel Church University from 1980 to 1985 . In 1989 he was in Bielefeld with a thesis supervised by Hans-Ulrich Wehler on the subject of “Modernization and Discipline. Social history of the Prussian elementary school system 1794–1872 ”received her doctorate and habilitated in 1999 with a paper on the subject of “ Citizenship and Religion. On the social and mental history of the Protestant pastors in Baden 1860-1914 ” .

After employment as a research assistant at the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology of the University of Bielefeld and at the Faculty of Protestant Theology of the Philipps University of Marburg in the field of church history , Kuhlemann worked as a private lecturer (mainly modern and contemporary history ) and professor ( contemporary history ) at the Bielefeld faculty and as a high school teacher at the Marienschule der Ursulinen Bielefeld . In the 2010/11 winter semester, he accepted a call from the Technical University of Dresden to the professorship for Modern and Contemporary History and History Didactics.

Research activity

His research is Kuhlemann deals with issues of social and cultural history of the 18th to the 20th century, the middle class research , the church history , the history of education , the contemporary history and the history teaching .

Together with Wilhelm Damberg , Andreas Holzem , Jochen-Christoph Kaiser and Wilfried Loth , he is the editor of the series “Denomination and Society” .
