Peter Lundgreen

Peter Lundgreen (born April 8, 1936 in Berlin ; † August 22, 2015 ) was a German historian and professor of the history of science at Bielefeld University .

Life

Lundgreen graduated from high school in Duderstadt in 1956 and studied history , German and philosophy in Göttingen , Mainz , Freiburg im Breisgau and at the Free University of Berlin from 1956 to 1963 . In 1963 he took his first state examination and then completed his legal clerkship in the Berlin school service, which he completed in 1964 with the second exam. Until 1965 he worked as an assessor in the Berlin school service.

From 1965 to 1968 he was a research assistant at the Historical Commission in Berlin . He received his doctorate in 1968 from the Free University of Berlin . After several years as a research assistant and assistant professor, he completed his habilitation in 1973. Afterwards, Lundgreen moved to Bielefeld University in 1975, initially as a research assistant in the field of science research, later as a private lecturer in the field of history, before he was finally appointed professor for the history of science in 1980. During his time in Bielefeld, he was dean of the Faculty of History and Philosophy several times. From the 1992/93 winter semester to the 1996 summer semester, Lundgreen was Vice Rector for Structure, Planning and Building Matters at Bielefeld University. Since his retirement in 2001, Lundgreen lived in Göttingen and supervised various research projects at the university there.

Lundgreen has made a name for himself primarily with work on historical educational research and the history of the bourgeoisie . In addition to publications on these topics, he was co-editor of the yearbook for historical educational research from 1993 to 1998 . Lundgreen was the spokesman for the working group on data manuals on German educational history . In the area of ​​the history of the bourgeoisie, he was jointly responsible for the Bielefeld Collaborative Research Center 177, Social History of the Modern Bourgeoisie , of which he was spokesman between 1996 and 2000.
