Frank Brownlee (born October 11, 1874 in Dallas , Texas , USA , † February 10, 1948 in Los Angeles , California , USA) was an American actor.

Life

During his film career from 1911 to 1943, Frank Brownlee was considered an all-round actor who could play everything from a dilapidated gold digger to an industrial captain. He was most often seen in westerns and action films. During the silent film era, he often played people who were on the wrong side of the law. In the sound film era he changed sides and often acted as military and police officers, security forces or law enforcement officers.

Brownlee had his first major role in 1921 in the silent film The Whistle (with leading actor William S. Hart ). Hal Erickson lists the films Romance Land (1923, by director Edward Sedgwick ), The Social Highwayman (1926, by director William Beaudine ) and Tombstone Canyon (1932, by director Alan James ) as career highlights . He also starred in several Laurel and Hardy comedies.
