Sailors, Beware! is an American silent film comedy from 1927 starring comedian duo Laurel and Hardy . The film premiered on September 25, 1927. In Germany, the short film came under the title The Lady with Long Fingers , Seafarers Have Eight! and the lout in the stroller to the cinema.

action

The honest taxi driver Chester Chaste takes in a brunette lady and her baby who are in a hurry to board the luxury liner Miramar. Mother and child reach the quay in good time and get on board safely. In the meantime, Chester is accidentally hoisted onto the ship by a crane operator along with a taxi. Only after a while does Chester get out of his taxi, the luxury liner has already cast off, Chester has become Shanghai . Finally, Chester is caught by the purser, who immediately identifies him as a stowaway and tells him to work off his trip.

Meanwhile it turns out that the brunette is Madame Ritz, the notorious jewel thief. And her baby is actually her husband and accomplice Roger, a short stature. Madame Ritz and her fake child entered the ship for one reason only: to rob the rich passengers. Because if a child grabs something nice and puts it in their stroller, it can only be an innocent mistake.

Background and trivia

Sailors, Beware! was shot in Culver City at Hal Roach Studios. Roger is played by the short actor Harry Earles, who played children in several silent films. In the sound film Earles received only a few roles and was henceforth mainly in vaudeville act
