Ludwig August Friedrich von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen (also Louis , born March 16, 1772 in Osnabrück , † August 22, 1852 in Liethe near Wunstorf ) was a royal Hanoverian general of the infantry and heir to Liethe and Offelten .

Life

origin

His parents were General Georg Wilhelm Daniel von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen (1726–1794) and his wife Freiin Dorothea Friederike von Hammerstein-Equord (1741–1777). General Hans von dem Bussche was his brother.

Military career

He fought with his father in the First Coalition War in the Netherlands. He also took part in the battles of September 6 and 7, 1795 at Rexpoede, in which Field Marshal Wilhelm von Freytag was freed. When the Electorate of Hanover surrendered in 1803, he was captain of the 9th Infantry Regiment. After the army was disbanded, he joined the German Legion like many others . In 1809 he became a lieutenant colonel there . He fought with the Legion in Hanover in 1805, in the Baltic States in 1807/08 and in Spain and southern France from 1809 to 1814. After crossing the river Bidasoa near France, he became the commander of the 1st Light Battalion, which was deployed in the Netherlands in 1815 and also took part in the battle of Waterloo in the division of Lieutenant General Carl von Alten . He then rose to the position of Hanoverian general of the infantry and died on August 22, 1852 in Liethe.

In 1815 he was awarded the command of the Guelph Order .

family

He was married to Elise von Malortie de Bimont (* August 4, 1802, † November 28, 1862). The couple had several children:
