Hans Clamor Hilmar von dem Bussche (born August 27, 1774 , † September 30, 1851 in Hameln ) was a royal Hanoverian general of the infantry .

Life

origin

His parents were General Georg Wilhelm Daniel von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen (1726–1794) and his wife Freiin Dorothea Friederike von Hammerstein-Equord (1741–1777). General Ludwig August Friedrich von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen (1772-1852) was his brother.

Military career

Bussche became an ensign in the footguard in 1789 , where he rose to lieutenant in 1793 and to captain in 1800 . After the surrender and dissolution of the army in 1803, he joined the German Legion and joined the 1st Light Battalion. In 1811 he was promoted to major there . With the Legion he took part in the campaign to Hanover in 1805 and in the fighting in the Baltic States in 1806/07 . From 1808 to 1814 he fought in Spain and southern France . After that the troop was transferred to the Netherlands .

He fought near Waterloo and was injured there by grapeshot on his right arm, which then had to be amputated. When the Hanoverian army was rebuilt in 1816, he joined the 1st Infantry Regiment as a lieutenant colonel . In 1820 he joined the Guard Jäger Regiment, where he became a colonel in 1828 and major general in 1831 . In 1829 he was appointed adjutant general to the governor general of Hanover. In 1838 he became commander of the light infantry brigade and in 1843 was appointed lieutenant general . In 1848 he was retired as a general of the infantry.

He retired to his family in Hameln, where he died in 1851.

He married Emma von Lenthe on June 14, 1819 (April 6, 1801 - March 28, 1882). The couple had several children including:
