Frank Greer
Frank Bartholomew Greer (born February 26, 1879 in East Boston , Massachusetts , † May 7, 1943 in Winthrop , Massachusetts) was an American rower .
Frank Greer rowed for the East Boston Amateur Athletic Boat Club . He was US champion in single from 1903 to 1905 and again in 1908 and Canadian champion from 1903 to 1905.
At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis , four rowers from the United States started in a single; the winner of the Henley Royal Regatta Louis Scholes from Canada had entered but did not compete. On the 1.5 mile route, Greer won in 10: 08.5 minutes by two boat lengths over James Juvenal .
After his career, Greer was a row coach in Detroit for a few years, but then returned to Boston and was sheriff of the Suffolk County Jail in Boston for many years .
