Frank Jacob (designer)

Frank Jacob (* 1966 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German designer. Since 2005 he has been Professor of Interface Design at the Muthesius Art College in Kiel .

Life

Following on from his training as a carpenter , Jacob studied industrial design from 1992 to 1997 at the Muthesius University of Art and Design in Kiel. During his studies, from 1995 to 1996 Frank Jacob worked as a scholarship holder of the Carl Duisberg Society in Tokyo / Japan at Milai Corporation, one of the leading Japanese design offices for transportation design and consumer products.

In 1999, Frank Jacob founded the design office Human Interface Design in Hamburg , specializing in the user-centered design of the operating quality of technical devices, software systems and interactive media.

In the 2001/2002 winter semester, Frank Jacob took over the professorship in technical design for the industrial design course at Muthesius University from Ulrich Hirsch. In 2005 Frank Jacob was appointed professor for interface design at the Muthesius Kunsthochschule in Kiel, where he has been responsible for the Bachelor and Master programs in Interface Design since then .

Frank Jacob is a member of the German UPA , the German Society for Design Theory and Research (DGTF), the Society for Computer Science (GI) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). He is also an advisory board member of iCom - the magazine for interactive and cooperative media.

Frank Jacob has been a member of the "Inflammation at Interfaces" cluster of excellence since 2011.
