Frank Kühne (swimmer)

Frank Kühne (born December 14, 1961 ) is a former swimming athlete from the GDR .

Frank Kühne won the title in the GDR championships in 1978 with the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay of the SC DHfK Leipzig . In 1979 and 1980 he won the individual relay relay, with Frank Kühne being the final swimmer in the freestyle situation. In 1980, Frank Kühne took third place in the 100 meter freestyle behind Jörg Woithe and Knut Bludau .

At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, Frank Kühne competed in four competitions. Over 100 meters and 200 meters freestyle he was eliminated in the preliminary stages. The four-by-200-meter freestyle relay made up of Frank Kühne, Detlev Grabs , Frank Pfütze and Rainer Strohbach won the first run. In the final, Pfütze, Woithe, Grabs and Strohbach swam to the silver medal behind the Soviet relay. The tier relay with Dietmar Göhring , Jörg Walter , Roger Pyttel and Frank Kühne qualified fourth in the second heat for the final. Again Kühne had to make way for Jörg Woithe, in the final Göhring, Walter, Pyttel and Woithe took fourth place.
